It's Election Day and Americans are voting for the next President of the United States.
After months and months of long and hard campaigning, Senators John McCain and Barack Obama wait to hear what voters will decide.
Millions of Americans are going to polling places today to participate in the elections.
At one polling place in South Bend, nearly 100 people were in line before the polls even opened. Most of them were trying to cast their ballots before beginning their work day.
Polling judges said about 60 people an hour were voting.
Lines were way out the door at almost every location in the Michiana area when polls first opened, and voters said it is an election worth waiting for.
“I’ve lived here for five years, and this is my second presidential election voting here. It’s pretty much the same; it moves quickly and it’s pretty well organized, I like it,” says Mark Bobus, who voted early this morning.
Rinthia Kytta was at the polls at 7 a.m. “I came at 7 and the lines were kind of slow at that time, but I heard it’s been pretty steady.
Despite the record turnout, poll workers say things have gone pretty smooth all day.
They said they saw about 60-people an hour.
