Monday in South Bend, “Rudy” made it clear who he is rooting for this election.
Actor Sean Astin played the title role in the movie “Rudy,” about a walk on Notre Dame Football Player.
Astin stopped by the Democratic Headquarters in South Bend Monday to give a pep talk to campaign workers.
“We’re going to elect the first African American President in the history of this country,” Astin said.
The last time Astin came to town was in February, when he campaigned for Senator Hillary Clinton at a rally in Mishawaka.
Today, Astin made it clear that he is firmly in the camp of Barrack Obama.
"I called my friends in the Obama campaign and said, do something with me, let me go somewhere, tell me where I can be helpful,” Astin said. “People of goodwill have got to learn how to work together, we can't be about fighting anymore and that's part of Obama’s whole message.”
Sean Astin lives in California, but his wife’s family is from LaPorte County.
