South Bend police are on the scene of yet another shooting. This is the eighth shooting in one week. This time, officials find themselves investigating Johnson Street near Linden Avenue.
Police say a man was shot and killed just before 11 a.m. Sunday. Officials say 32-year-old Quest Jackson was near a sidewalk on Johnson when the suspect drove by firing several rounds and then drove off down Linden.
Jackson was rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The St. Joseph County Metro Homicide Unit arrested 30-year-old Dakevee Wiggins in connection with the shooting.
The county prosecutor’s office is reviewing the case to see what Wiggins will be charged with.
Since last Sunday, this is the third fatal shooting and forth fatal crime when considering a recent stabbing. Those incidents are in addition to five other shootings that did not result in death.
