Police have identified the victim in one of the overnight shootings Sunday in South Bend.

St. Joseph County Metro Homicide says 21-year-old Bradley Walls of South Bend was shot while driving his car around 3:45 a.m., causing him to crash near the intersection of Lafayette and Lasalle Avenue.

South Bend Police Captain Phil Trent says Walls was found dead at the scene.

Police report a gun was found in the street near the accident.

This was the third shooting in three hours in the city.

The first happened just after 2:00 a.m. at the Taco Bell on Lincolnway West and Bendix.

South Bend Police are saying the victim is a male juvenile was shot during the course of a large fight.

Not too long after the first shooting, there was a second shooting at the Marathon gas station at Ironwood and Mishawaka Avenue.

Police report multiple gun casings were found in the station's parking lot.

They are reporting victims walked into nearby hospitals shortly after the shooting to receive treatment.

Their current status is unknown.

Police say they consider the shootings related.

In addition to the shootings, there was also a brutal stabbing early Sunday morning.

It happened around 3:00 a.m. in the 2600 block of West Washington.

Police say 55-year-old Elmo Perry and his girlfriend got into an argument in their backyard.

The fight escalated, and the women stabbed Perry twice.

Perry's mother and father witnessed the stabbing, and took him to Memorial Hospital in South Bend.

The suspect left with the knife, and police are still looking for her.

One of Perry's wounds was to the stomach, and police say he was rushed to surgery when he arrived at the hospital.

City is looking good... Right Mayor??!!!!!

Posted by: Anonymous on Oct 28, 2008 at 08:57 PM
Beatty a racist? Haha that is laughable. I have never seen more black and white dudes like and give love to any other cop how they do him. ANd many others at that.. so they are racist if the crime is commited by someone that isn't white? Wow.. And they do not check id's. Maybe at the club you work but the security does at fever. The shirts that say "security" are not ploice shirts. I am sure it is hard for you to know the difference since you are working at a club making about $8 an hour. If you worked at one you would know they do not do that. How sad it must be to live your life bitter. Make sure not to dial 911 when someone steals your 89 Escort.

more like less "african americans" less crime. am i right or what?

Posted by: anonymous Location: south bend on Oct 27, 2008 at 10:11 PM
"less guns less crime" is B.S. the criminals are always going to get guns/weapons. The ones who buy guns legally and have legal carry permits to protect their friends/family/home. are the ones not on the news shooting people in the back. We buy guns for recreation and protection only in the right situations. So i disagree 100% on less gun less crime.

to SC-You know what? There has ALWAYS been 3rd shifts of work even when I was younger...and again go home and eat. If merchants were smart, they would train the consumers to do their business on their time. No one has to go shopping at 2:00 am.

Posted by: Anonymous on Oct 27, 2008 at 03:55 PM
... but regardless, letting ND students drink will not result in no crime. I am sorry to break it to you. It does not matter if 100 sbpd cars were at the party because underage drinking is illegal. If all the police workd how you are saying they should then there would be no crime ever. No prisons would be needed right? Because all police should prevent the crime. No presidents should have ever been asassinated. I bet they were busy busting parties probably and not protecting like they should. I mean they should be psychic right and prevent it all? Stand on every street corner and make sure no street thugs decide to shoot at eachother. The pathetic point you are trying to make just sounds really ignorant. I am sure you are just bitter about being ticketed before. Deal with it... or move to Mexico. If the students do not like it then go somewhere where you can drink under 21.

Posted by: Anonymous on Oct 27, 2008 at 03:44 PM
Regardless it is illegal to drink under 21. Everyone does it but it is illegal and everyone who does is nervous and knows there is a risk of being caught. And it is known that a lot of ND students can not handle their alcohol. And since you clearly do so much research you should know that the main reason the ticketing and raiding of ND students happened after 2 students who were underage were shot after leaving a bar by 2 thugs. Most do not realize how unsafe the areas they are in really are. You sound like such a smart person... maybe one of those book-smart only students? ANd they did not have 25 sbpd cars. It is a fact that 1/2 were extra county cars and state police which equals excise. There are so many calls non stop for SBPD there is no possible way 25 could ever be at a stupid ND party. The sbpd called for more cars resulting in 25 cars. It had all to do with Excise. Research next time..how sad

Posted by: Anonymous on Oct 27, 2008 at 12:26 PM
It's not the mayors fault. It's not the cops fault. If you are out driving around looking for trouble at 3:45am my guess is that your gonna find it. Maybe he should of been at home in bed like most ppl. How often do you see a church going lady got picked off at 3 am, you DON'T because maybe she is at home not out looking for VIOLENCE and trouble. If you lead that kind of lifestyle you get whats coming. It's sad when you see an innocent person in the middle that got hurt, that outrages me. Change your life or dodge bullets and bury your young, thats your choice, and the end result is YOUR FAULT. Stop putting blame and fault on others. Having a gun don't make you a killer either. Taking away guns for our safty is just giving them an upper hand.

I don't have time to read all these posts today, but obviously "Bob" in the first post was using irony. The "Less Guns, Less Crime" argument is obviously failing in Chicago, and fails everywhere it gains adherents.

Posted by: Mike Location: Elkhart on Oct 27, 2008 at 11:41 AM
To anon at 8:07PM Read what I said before you look stupid. I didn't say anything about the game you added that part yourself. I am talking about the south bend police raid on a private house a few weeks ago and arresting 30 Notre Dame students. It had nothing to do with the excise police. The news reported the South Bend Police had 25 police cars there.

Dear South Bend Residents. You elected your mayor. Impeach him. Real simple

With all the cops getting fired? Wow that is a pretty bold statement. I mean like 3 out of about 300 on SBPD... yea sounds like all of them. Smartly put. I think we can all tell you put a lot of thought in to your comment. I think you should find some type of gun forum to post on. Clearly you are just trying to brag about having one. You sound pretty nerdy.

Where do I begin? I moved here a year ago and am struggling to figure out why a small town in NW IN has a gang, drug, and laziness problem. If I chose to be in a gang and wanted to sell drugs, I certainly would not choose to be here in the Bend. I think that the gang members here are misfits who simply could not make it in the larger gangs in Chicago and Detroit. If any of you have read the book "Freakonomics" you would find the part where it is talked about how most crack dealers live in poverty with their Mothers hilarious yet true, because it is just not that prosperous for the majority of dealers. I guess I would not live in a town of 100,000 people and try to act like a gangsta tough a@#. Do the dealers here get snow days when the lake effect snowfall comes? LOL! These people are big pimpin' in a small town yo! Do they discuss which Burger King they are going to hang out at to shoot at people?

It's easy to criticize when it's not your family. This is a SAD time for the family of Bradley. WE WILL MISS HIM even though he was into things he shouldn't have been. IN HIS HEART, he really was a nice young man

Posted by: Anonymous on Oct 26, 2008 at 09:01 PM
Myself and my .44 Mag will make short work of anyone who tries to assult myself while on my way home or out. I take it everywhere I go. Its nice to know it can go though kevlar like butter. Cause soon, with all the cops getting fired - they will be the ones to turn against their citizens.

Bradley was one of the sweetest guy's i've ever met. He didn't deserve this at all. My prayers go out to his family, and his young daughter who will have to grow up without her dad. Brad did not deserve to die over any drug mess. He will truly be missed. R.I.P Bradley Walls

Mike in Elkhart.. research things before you look stupid. Excise which is the State police are who patrols the games and gives tickets. It is a little far fetchd to say they can stand guard on every street corner to stop shootings. Be smart and realistic.

Mothers "know where your babies are" is an understatment..Try watching Lock-Up RAW and you will see mothers having babies behind prison walls..so where do we expect these babies to be when they become young adults? And for all those who think it is okay for the thugs to kill one another; just remember they are someone's child, father, brother, uncle, or friend. We all need to pray without ceasing; not just for SBN, but for this entire nation. When will this madness end?

Posted by: Anonymous on Oct 26, 2008 at 06:41 PM
Gangs, Gangs, GANGS!!!!!!!!!this must stop. they roam from the darkness till the morning hours and prevent regular citizens from enjoying the weekend. There must be action. This has got to stop.

This is really tragic. These young kids in this city are dying left and right. What part of the dead end street are they not seeing? Oh, the part that the mayor keeps saying"this is a safe town and good city"! There is no two way street when playing with guns, gangs, and drugs.I pray for all of the families who get the tragic phone call in the middle of the night. I pray that these kids will open their eyes and change their lives. To the adults..we have to help get these kids off of the streets and show them there is hope. It will not happen overnight but if people start, maybe there can be two-way streets again.Don't count on the local gov't to help, the mayor is too busy cutting everything out for kids and adults, count on each other. When one is down, help them.Turn the other cheek and say no when bad issues arise. We cannot continue on this downhill slope, it is time to smooth out the pavement. Mayor, open your eyes, it starts with you!

Posted by: SC Location: South Bend on Oct 26, 2008 at 05:42 PM
To Margaret: Not all people work regular hours, some people work into the night and are thankful that there is someplace to stop for a snack or for milk for the kids in the morning. It's the low-lifes out there who ruin it for the rest of us.

Posted by: Frankie on Oct 26, 2008 at 04:34 PM
Well, Justin, if you're looking for a job and not out robbing and shooting, then you should get govt assistance. As for the ones who just have more kids to get more welfare and food stamps, THEY need to be cut off! No section 8 for scum. How can you live your whole life on welfare, unless you are truly disabled? (and I don't mean just so fat and lazy you have to ride a cart around Walmart) Also, make it hard for absentee landlords to rent in the city. Isn't anyone else tired of your tax $$ going to keep these scum alive?

the stuipd thugs shoots someone with a police car on linconway by moos with there lights on( pulling a car over) and they don't think the cops will come ??? think of the people in line at taco bell.

I work second shift downtown and carry a fire arm at all times. I have seen two attemted robberies and stopped it from happining. So to the people that say ban guns, I say to you HITLER BANNED GUNS!!! And we all know how that ended. A gun never killed a person, a person with a gun has killed. I say its open season on thugs.

Link you sound bitter that Beatty got promoted and you didn't. I love when he works recall cuz he's helps out taking calls & doesn't act like he's better than us unlike other sgts. I'm sure he does fraud which is felony not stolen bikes and he belongs back on the street doing gangs because he used to be who everyone including me asked when we wanted to know who someone was or what grafitti means. I wish he was my supervisor on 2nd's all the time his smarts are wasted just because he was out there bein a cop instead of kissin butts trying to get promoted like you probably were doesn't mean he shoulda been fired. Beatty at least stood up to the chiefs to fight for people instead of drinking there Koolaid like you did. As for the shootings its a daily event in South Bend most nights it doesn't even make a blip on the news but since there were so many on a slow news day the public finally gets to know what REALLY happens in this city MOST of the time. You want peace? Go to Granger.

I agree. There is no such place as Michiana. Please stop. While I am at it The media saying someone "went missing" drives me crazy. If you went you had to go somewhere. Missing is not a place so you could not have "went" there.

Posted by: Mike Location: Elkhart on Oct 26, 2008 at 02:38 PM
The police are not concerned about the west side of South Bend. They would much rather tie up the whole police force arresting a few Notre Dame students for underage drinking. The people on the west side shoot back. Why would they go over there???

Posted by: Anonymous on Oct 26, 2008 at 02:09 PM
Anonymous @ 105a am... yea they probably "was"... I mean are you really calling someone an idiot and typing that ignorantly? Wow. Newsflash... cops do not checl ID's and since you probably go to the local clubs I am sure you know that. You were probably a low life thrown out before. Ignorance and bitterness is truly sad. Do us all a favor and never post again.

Posted by: Margaret Location: South Bend on Oct 26, 2008 at 01:57 PM
Perhaps stores should close at night. No more all night at Wal-Mart and Meijer. Why in the hell do you need to have tacos at 2:00 am? Maybe if people were forced to stay home because there was no where else to go to cause trouble, there would be less violence.

Posted by: Parent's Rights Location: Osceola on Oct 26, 2008 at 01:42 PM
Some comment's on the board are just acidine..Think about it there is a line between disciplne and child abuse. If the state didn't brain wash kids into thinking a good old a#$ Whooping was abuse and parent's could be parents again (this doesn't mean break your kids bones or critically injure them)Just a good Butt Spanking some of these kids wouldn't be acting like their tougher then most the would have some respect and morals that they live by. I got my butt whooped for things I shouldve done and I graduated Highschool have a legal job and take care of my family , Im not out robbing people or selling drugs or shooting people Guys it is time to grow up learn from your mistakes and move on with a better life not a criminal life you'll be well respected in the end...

it's sad to say it but young black males are kikking each other, pretty soon the police wont have to arrest them cause they will all be in there graves. It's so sad to me that life means nothing to them, and all of this is over a bunch of nothing. it's pathetic.

Posted by: Justin Location: South Bend on Oct 26, 2008 at 01:11 PM
If only I could join you members of the elite who have never needed some government assistance. Instead, I'm just a lowlife that has to spend all day applying for jobs, following up on applications, and trying to figure out how to keep food in the fridge for my kids. Hopefully they will soon do away with food stamps and section 8 so scumbags like me can find somewhere else to survive.

I guess living outside your fair city I find it amazing that you all would be ranting about three shootings and a stabbing. There are how many people in South Bend? Three shot, one stabbed. Sounds like a slow night if you think about all the other horrific happenings of the week. How many babies had to die because mom didn't want them? How many families were broken up because of unfaithful spouses or because of drugs or drinking or maybe heart attacks etc? Maybe it is time for some of you who can do nothing but condemn, the mayor the school board, the parents, maybe it is time you do something to IMPROVE your little part of this community. Start small; put your cigarette out INSIDE your ash tray instead of throwing out the window. Put your trash in a can instead of on the street. Pray for your mayor and state officials. See what a difference these will make. And be thankful ONLY three were shot on the streets this weekend. Just a thought?

Lets’ face it; we are truly living in our “LAST DAYS”… According to 1 Corinthians 2:9; Eye have not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God has prepared for them that love Him. Dr. James Dobson puts it very simple: "Those who control what young people are taught and what they experience, what they see, hear, think and believe…will determine the future course for the nation." That does not mean just South Bend…So whoever wants to move from SBN to escape the violence. START PACKING and go find that perfect little town with houses lined with white picket fences. Give it a few years and it will not be any different than South Bend...

Posted by: PMP Location: South Bend on Oct 26, 2008 at 12:23 PM
Anyone that thinks what is going on in South Bend is isolated to this area; must have their heads up their rear ends’. People in the world today have lost respect for anyone in authority, themselves, the law, and their fellowman, but most of all for God. For anyone to honestly believe that getting rid of Section 8, food stamps and public housing would be a cure all; they don’t have a clew and better wake up! Many of these young people who are committing violent crimes against one another probably have never been taught any different. I am in my early fifties and many folks close to that same age are no better than some of the young folk’s people refer to as thugs and gangsters. We must keep in mind; children are taught by example and we cannot blame everything on rap music either! It is way past time we adults start to take responsibility for what is happening today. When you have parents that will cruse out a teacher, based on what their child says…should bare a lot of the blame.

Get rid of guns?? What and give the criminals and low lifes the upper hand?? Police and Firefighter cuts and no guns would do just that. Wake up people! Get rid of all the idiots running the cities and the county and put people in place that are actually going to do some good. And the Police Chief? Yeah Right! I agree with some of these posts as far as getting rid of Section 8, drug screens for the people on food stamps(cards) and start making everyone more accountable. Get rid of the Hall of Shame, Century Center and Coveleski and anything else that is not needed and put the money where it belongs, keeping Police and Firefighters on the job. As far as Jerry's (7:39am) concerned..he's right, we are turning into Gotham City.

Take the guns away from the THUGS. Let the law abiding citizens keep their guns. The city of South Bend is being let down. Hey Mayor WAKE UP! People are selling their homes and Running away from South Bend. Why? Cause the school Suck, Crime is way up and the people who keep the peace are getting fired or layed off left and right! People have every right to defend themselves. Maybe the Mayor needs to get off his high horse and ask the people of South Bend if they think they are safe.

JC said "Please WNDU stop using "Michiana" as a place. There is none. The location is either Indiana or Michigan. Be specific." I have to agree- I'm sure the Michigan area residents don't want their state brought down by South Bend's crime and reputation. Just like Mishawaka.

Dear THS A attempt at some satire. South Bend has a serious problem with crime as do all citys A recent tour of the county jail showed a place full of a lot of youth. Where have these people come from? Fatherless homes? Why do the people do what they do. Crime is rampent on the streets because our judges dont impose the max sentances Simply put crime pays. Untill we go back and put God in our lives and teach fear and reverence for him in our familys and schools things will only get worse. Its ok to steal but please dont offend someone because of mention of Jesus Crist might just change their heart and their lives. As for guns I have been a recent victum of robbery crime and had a knife at my throat many years ago and it wasnt the good guys who did it I SUPPORT GUN OWNERSHIP BY EVERYONE. ANYONE WHO TURNS IN A GUN IS A FOOL. We need to clean house at the next election. Why do we have money for the Hall of Shame and not the police department. Follow the money and politics

Posted by: Jen on Oct 26, 2008 at 10:40 AM
A certain group of people in this town are out of control. Why? No personal responsibility. No accountability. No punishment. Morals are in the toilet. We need to push for mandatory sentencing-if it's a three strikes and you're out type of program, so be it. o more slaps on the wrists for those whose only "job" has ever been stealing, selling drugs, or gang banging. I'd much rather see my tax dollars spent on prisons and know these people are off the streets. If you're on public assistance and you use or sell drugs, you're off the free ride list. If your kid sells drugs and they live with you, you're off the free ride list (i.e. 5 juveniles connected with last week's murder). Some people must be forced to be held accountable. Career criminals must be put away so that decent people can live their lives. What a boom to the economy if people could, and would, go out into the community without fear. Let's do something to draw people IN instead of wanting them to move OUT of this area.

OK I know people are fed up with all that is going on but as far as I see it the only true solution without causeing more harm is to pray. Pray about everything. Argue against that and at the end you will realize that that is the main solution. Sorry for the loss of your love one. I pray God reaches the heart of the person or people who acted in such cold heartedness. I pray that you allow yourself to feel Gods presence and turn yourself in. You know the truth and the truth will always win.

And who do you think would come take our guns? You Bob? I went to the Gun show in nappanee yesterday guess what no one busted in shooting any one. This isn't an unemployed thing or times are tuff thing. This is just a group of no good thugs that don't even know the economy is bad. They live in mishawaka and Granger too. South Bend is just the place to be for this group of people. South Bend isn't bad all over. There's some nicer homes and areas in South Bend than in Granger. I have lived in South Bend all my life. Lincolnway from Bendix to the Downtown Taco Bell is a nightmare. Oh the landlords to these homes live where... The parents and the landlords need to be held accountable. Stuff happens in one section of town and all of South Bend is bad...get a life. My son is doing great in South Bend Schools. But hey I'm involved in my childs life. All this stupid behavior falls way back to the parents giving birth and not raising there kids properly.

Wake up voters. If you elect Obama, the very people participating in this violent, thug life style will feel empowered to run right over decent, hard-working folk.

Chad, you hit it on the head. I am going to get my permit right away. This city, a city that once was a promising, job oriented, safe for all, with places for all to go to to enjoy the day or night, is GONE. It is not just the bad economy, it is the corrupt, greedy ones who only pretend they know how to do their jobs and keep lining their pockets with green. This city needs to boot the mayor and his good ole boys right out of town, actually, he should step up to the plate and resign respectfully, his crew will follow. We have a chance to have a new govenor, people vote! Save our state. Hopefully, no one else got hurt in all of the mess that happened early this morning. Luckily, more were not injured or killed. I am talking about the innocent; people in their homes, driving home from a late shift job, people trying to have a "one night out", the risk of one losing their life because of the scum is high. Halloween is just a week away, what a sad thought for all of our innocent kids...

Do some of you poor people who live in South Bend, still say the new CSI truck is a waste of money? Are you going to let your Mayor cut the police and fire departments? Are you going to continue to let the "importance" of maintaining parks and supporting the ridiculous Hall of Fame, over ride your safety? What good is to come from keeping park funding when no one will be able to go there for fear of being shot, stabbed or robbed? I'm just glad I live to the south. Sure, we have meth labs, domestics and drunk drivers...but they are few and far between. Oh, and JC? You live in East Gary and all you have to complain about is that WNDU uses a term that has been around forever? Lucky you. ;D

Banning Guns Bob??? That's a great idea, take the guns away from law-abiding citizens. Then the only ones left w/ the guns would be the "GANSTA'S/THUGS", unless you honestly think they would turn in their guns also. Guns are not the problem, it's the "people" that are using guns improperly. Another issue being ignored is societies mentality and thirst for violence. How many t.v. shows a night are based upon murder and violence? How many movies are there w/ murder or violence being the main plot?? When murder is being glorified and beaten into young, unguided minds nightly, what else would you expect? I guess it's easier to blame a gun if you've never been raised around or taught about being a RESPONISBLE gun owner and knowing the consequences of what happens once the trigger has been pulled. I was brought up around guns and my 5 children are now doing the same. My 5 y/o daughter knows more about gun responsibilty and what happens when a bullet hits it's intended target/animal.

If the mayor wants to know where to make cuts, I say take away all the food stamps,sec.8 housing... just stop giving our tax dollars away to undeserving people and most of South Bends problems would go away.Another idea is to drug test monthly before any one gets the debit foodstamp card refilled. Too many low lifes are getting a free ride for any good to come of it. I'm sick of it and it's time the mayor's office make some changes that might anger the bums instead of the hard working tax payers. And where is this new police chief who was going to clean up the streets?

SBPD needs to get it together and put a stop to this crap!! What are we paying them for??

Posted by: dave Location: south bend on Oct 26, 2008 at 08:58 AM
It was just another quiet evening in the mean streets when...I'm afraid to leave my own house in fear I will get caught in the crossfire. I thought Osceola is home to picket fences, white walls, wood floors. David Snyder for mayor.

there is nothing more disgusting than people that are to cowardly to own guns trying to get guns banned for everybody else. what is this? the twilight zone? we have a government that has lied to us about everything for the last hundred years, and bob the genius thinks the solution is to surrender our guns to it. so this is a news flash to bob and all the rest of the sheep. surrendering the bill of rights to a corrupt government is not the answer to anything, ever. period. okay? next time think first and then speak. thanks.

Please WNDU stop using "Michiana" as a place. There is none. The location is either Indiana or Michigan. Be specific.

The best way to rid ourselves of this ilk is to take away their habitat. Find out where they stay and who owns the property and either they stop renting to these thugs of take away their property. NO MORE SECTION 8 HOUSING. If you can't afford the rent on your own then go away! The vast majority of these houses are for the benefit of the LANDLORD not the renter. These folks have income, just not any verifiable income. If you aren't welcoming to these creeps they won't stay. No more "poor" red carpet.

Dear Shoppy, Not everyone that lives in SB is gun toting drug dealer, just like everyone who lives in Osceola is not a redneck, racist jerk with a 8th grade education.

To Bob: Um, no guns doesn't create less violence buddy. That's a copout statement and I think you're smart enough to realize that. The bad guys will always get the guns. it doesn't matter the laws you put into place. Europe has some of the toughest laws concerning gun ownership (outright illegal in many cases) and yet, the bad guys will get the guns.

I'm so sick of hearing about these shooting, fights, and murders! I'm waiting on my permit, it'll be here before the holidays. As for the kid, who was shot, at 2 a.m. at Taco Bell, where was his loving mom making sure he was in at that hour? That Taco Bell, which is the one we go to (unfortunatly) always has bums hanging out asking for money. I'd like to move but people's morals and respect for each other has declined all over the place. People need to get back into church and live what they learn and live how they do when they're in the church. As for the judges, throw them in jail for the rest of their lives, or better yet enforce the death penalty. Teach up-and-comings that if you shoot someone you're gonna pay with your own life!

I'm not surprised about the shooting at the Marathon. Look at what is near by Studes. It seems that there is a whole new patron group that goes there now.

Violent crime in South Bend continues to increase month by month, year by year yet Mayor Luecke can't wait to dismiss forty South Bend police officers to supposedly save the city money. Go figure. If the mayor is sincere about wanting to help the city perhaps he should consider cutting HIS large salary by a significant amount (say 30% or more) and keeping the cops employed and on the street.

Posted by: Jerry Location: South Bend on Oct 26, 2008 at 07:39 AM
Worthless Mayor, Worthless School Board, Worthless commissioners, Top that with the corruption and then Detroit on one side and Chicago on the other. And people that vote Familiarity what a mess and what do you expect. You Get what we have Gotham City type of atmosphere.

When times get tough, crime goes up! Well times are tough and sadly going to get tougher. So expect far more of this violence. Unemployed here and cannot find work here, so looking away from this area and will be happy to go! Keep slapping there hands and letting them go, next person they shoot may be related to you JUDGES!

Posted by: ANOTHER DAY on Oct 26, 2008 at 07:25 AM
well what a surprise the thugs are at it again in east gary i wish they learn how to shoot straight that way they would off each other the less of them the less crime

Posted by: mish Location: mish on Oct 26, 2008 at 07:15 AM
Why arrest the last one standing? i say give him a key to the city, or even the mayor's job. As far as the other comments, this is a weekly headline for SB...why the surprise? It would be surprising to read thug helps old lady across street. and judges...who says we don not need to elect our judges??? At least for now it seems to be a one sided crime spree. thugs against thugs.

Posted by: Mike Location: Elkhart on Oct 26, 2008 at 07:13 AM
Bob, you are an idiot. Chicago had 80 shooting just in July and August. Do you think if guns were banned all of these morons that are shooting each other will turn in their guns? Does everyone remember a few weeks ago the South Bend Mayor said South Bend was a safe place to live??

Posted by: Anonymous on Oct 26, 2008 at 07:10 AM
hey bob your clueless wake up!!

South Bend is such a dump...and getting very, very scary.

Posted by: shoppy Location: osceola on Oct 26, 2008 at 07:06 AM
Put a fence around South Bend, toss over a load of hand guns, knives, then arrest the last man standing. South Bend will be safe again

Posted by: anonymous Location: south bend on Oct 26, 2008 at 07:04 AM
Im ashamed to say I live in SB and think these bars these people hang out at need closed down. Downtown is not new to crime and selling drugs should be more punshible than it is now. I think the judgs are not tough enough on crime in this area....cant wait to move!!!!

Posted by: Charles Location: Berrien on Oct 26, 2008 at 06:36 AM
Another great news day for South Bend area. Looks like Gary is moving east. And the officials are talking lay-offs of police. Sure seems like a reason for the public and get a permit and legally carry a side arm. Granted most shootings are take place at night but with the holidays and people shopping sure does not make anyone feel safe doing so, or even driving through the area as well.

Posted by: Anonymous on Oct 26, 2008 at 06:23 AM
hate to say this is a daily thing in detroit oh i mean south bend !!!!! what the heck is going on?? didnt use to be this way. scumbags, drugs and gangs?????

Posted by: Bob on Oct 26, 2008 at 05:06 AM
If South Bend was like Chicago an didn't have guns there would'nt be any shootings
