At least two people are dead after a small airplane crashed into a semi-truck on a residential street in Montrose.
The plane, the truck and a car caught fire, but firefighters attacked the flames and kept them from spreading to nearby houses.
Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Gary Mayer confirms the plane went down shortly after ten o'clock this morning. The crash site is on South Ninth Street -- between Park and Uncompahgre Avenues -- right below the flight path to Montrose Regional Airport.
The National Transportation Safety Board says it's the first fatality accident near the Montrose airport since a November 2004 crash that killed 14-year-old Teddy Ebersol, the youngest son of NBC Sports executive Dick Ebersol, plus two crew members.
