Three teenagers and a 7-year-old are in hospitals after crashing into a tree in Lake Charter Township on Monday night.
They were driving a Yukon SUV along Jericho Road south of Shawnee Road, when the crash happened around 5:30p.m.
First responders had to use the Jaws of Life to cut everyone from the vehicle.
They ranged in age from 7 to 19. The driver was a 16-year-old New Buffalo High School student. A 7-year-old New Buffalo Elementary student sat in the front seat, with an 18-year-old Bridgman High School student and a 19-year-old passenger in the back seat.
All four were taken to a St. Joseph, Michigan hospital and two later moved to Kalamazoo.
At least one of the teens is in an intensive care unit, and another in surgery. The full extent of their injuries is not known at this time.
