EVANSVILLE, Ind. (AP) - Police say they've arrested a man in connection to a fire at an Evansville apartment building where three people were found dead.

The Evansville Police Department released a statement early Tuesday saying 31-year-old Christopher Compton was arrested after the Monday afternoon blaze on three counts of murder and four counts of arson.

Compton is being held without bond at the Vanderburgh County Jail. An initial court date hasn't been set, and it wasn't clear whether Compton had retained an attorney. Police say no other arrests are expected.

Police say four people were able to jump from a second-story window to escape the blaze, and three of them remain hospitalized.

No information has been released about the three people killed in the fire. Police say autopsies would be performed Tuesday.
