NILES, Mich. -- Southwestern Michigan College students had an open house at their Niles campus today.
But it wasn't just to sign up for courses.
Students got to see the second phase of a $3 million renovation project
It includes a community room for different Niles organizations to meet and physical education space.
There will also be a second student gathering place that will have a living room feel to it with a built in fire place.
"This phase included more student space for student gathering and student studying as well as a new room for the community to use for different events as well as us on campus," Stacy Horner, dean of the Niles campus, explained.
Phase one was finished last year.
SMC built a new student service center, science labs and a faculty and student commons.
