A Fort Wayne newspaper says Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels has traveled on state aircraft almost as many times so far this election year as he did all of last year.
The Journal Gazette reports Daniels has taken 52 trips on the two planes and a helicopter this year.
Last year, he used the aircraft 61 times all year.
Many of the flights are related to state business, but some include political events.
Daniels' spokeswoman says his campaign pays for trips if Daniels is traveling "solely" for political purposes.
The state has spent about $107,000 for Daniels' travels in about a year and a half.
Daniels' Democratic challenger Jill Long Thompson says there are legitimate questions about the governor's traveling.
