For about a week now, people have been making their way to the second largest county fair in the country.
All of the excitement is going on in Goshen.
For about 150 years, the Elkhart County Fair has caught peoples' attention for many reasons.
Kelsey,8, and Kara Anderson,10, do not know whether to look up, down, left or right while at the fair.
They aren't sure what to eat, what to see, or what to do.
Kelsey says, “I like it for the rides and the food.”
Kelsey and Kara say you need a couple of days to cover all the grounds.
Kara says, "We've eaten dinner and played a couple of the squirty games and stuff. We've done almost everything but rides so far."
The sisters still made sure their camera shy dad had some fun too.
Kara says, “We've seen our dad's friends, Jenn's sister, and her husband.”
They say the fair is a great place to socialize and even stand back and admire all the work done by local people in the 4-H program.
Kara says, “They put a lot of work into it and it kind of shows.”
Laurie Sula, Youth Development Extension Educator, says this year there are a record number of exhibits, over 5,300.
Sula says, “All different types of pictures, sewing, scrapbooks, almost anything we can think of we've got it here.”
Kelsey says, “I like the cakes and the dresses.”
Kara says, “If I made one of these things, I would want people to check it out because it must have taken a really long time.”
As they said, you can never spend too much time at a fair when there is just too much to check out.
The excitement also includes live music. On Wednesday night, Hootie and the Blowfish took the stage. Concerts, a rodeo, and demolition derby will take place over the weekend.
