St. Joe County police arrested three men, accused of several burglaries in the area.

Early Monday morning, officers responded to a theft in progress in Osceola. They discovered a car was broken into, and the garage door was opened through the car. Two mountain bikes were stolen.

Several officers and a K-9 unit searched the area, and chased two men who were near a mountain bike.

Another police officer found a suspicious vehicle near the scene, which someone got into and drove away.

The officer made a traffic stop and the driver was identified as 26-year-old Christopher Ryckeart of Elkhart. He was arrested on preliminary charges of burglary after 24 stolen items were found in his vehicle, including a DVD player, purses, Nintendo Wii, and the two stolen mountain bikes.

The items are all connected to six burglaries in the area.

Early yesterday, a second suspect, 21-year-old Frank Albano of Osceola, was arrested and charged with five preliminary counts of burglary and one count of theft.

Then later yesterday, a third suspect, 38-year-old Dennis Douglas of South Bend, was arrested in St. Joe County after officers responded to a burglary in progress. A witness allegedly saw Douglas climbing into a window of his neighbor’s home and removing items. Police recovered several items stolen from the house inside of Douglas’ van, which was also stolen.

Douglas is also charged with preliminary counts of burglary.

This is why we should applaud Roe V. Wade! Women who have high risk issues--uneducated poverty ridden and plain old stupid should abort. The world could be a better place. These clowns are why we need abortions!

Chaz you wouldn't support to the death penalty for someone who plead guilty so lets be honest.

I bet they're just like their Dad's. The rotten apple doesn't fall far from the tree.

I bet their moms are so proud of them. If you go back and ask their elementary school teachers about these three thugs, I bet you they predicted a life of crime for these three in the first grade.

Yeah, Sam, that whole no appeal thing? That doesn't work for me. To date there have been almost 200 people on death row for years and they were then cleared by DNA evidence or someone else stepping forward for their crime. There have been thousands of non-death penalty cases overturned for similar reasons. There have been numerous death penalities handed down based on nothing more than a person being in the same general area and matching the general description. No physical eveidence, nothing. Just a black guy that looked roughly like the one somebody saw shoot someone. And a black man is 6 times more likely to get the death penalty than a white man for the exact same crime. I'm all for making sure we've convicted the right man. Courts and jurors make mistakes all the time. That's why we have appeals. I hope one day you're never blocks away form a murder comitted by a white guy matching your description and wearing clothes similar to yours. If you are, you'll thank God for appeals.

Its about time they make breaking into a car the same as residential burglary also. A class A felony! We could send them to Saudi Arabia for sentencing also.

Why do all of these criminals look like they are missing one or more chromosomes, is it the hard drugs do you think?

Posted by: mika on Jul 23, 2008 at 05:59 PM
You know how many times do a person get a slap on the hand before something is done? This is not the first time Dennis Douglas has done this, he known for doing things like this and nothing is ever done he should of been locked up for this stuff a long time ago. People work to hard for the things they have and you have people like him that don't have nothing and want to take from the working man or woman. This needs to stop like RIGHT NOW!

I think we need to bring back PUBLIC EXECUTIONS. We need to make it MANDATORY of anyone sent to jail MUST watch one. I do believe it would curb violence. We shouldn't house as many prisoners as we do too. If a person is convicted of murder, his execution should be done within 30 days with NO chance of appeal. They HAD their day in Court and was found guilty. Don't put them on "death row" - execute them. The biggest problem with criminals today is, they KNOW the penalties are going to be harsh. Sheriff Joe Arapio of Arizona has chain gangs and all the inmates wear pink. The prisoners sleep outside in the desert in TENTS with no A/C!! Sheriff Joe says "if you don't like my accommodations, don't get yourself arrested again!". Good point Sheriff Joe! We need Sheriff Joe to head our Homeland Security. I'm sure he would have a solution to this problem in the Michiana area.

Realy Sad. Three people will now get to spend some serious time in prison and ruin the rest of their lives. They will never be able to get decent work, feed their children. for what? Keep the ten commandments out of school.Dont mention God I can only say to these young men. Fear not what man can do to you, But fear the one who has the power to cast your soul into hell.

Posted by: jayson Location: elkhart on Jul 23, 2008 at 02:41 PM
The ten commandments wouldn't make a difference anyways. They probably had an "In God We Trust" license plate on the car and van. I am sure they will be free again in no time doing it again

Lets put a fence around Beacon Heights and lock these guys and other "citizens" just like them inside. That way they will all be together and leave us alone.

just get a job and buy your own stuff. STOP STEALING MINE

Why, they look like three fine young Hoosier lads to me!

Great Job neighbors, but I still want a neighbor like the guy in Texas. Let me see you coming out of my house or my neighbors house and you just might get the same from me. I work to hard for my things and someone will get hurt trying to take them. So all you thugs or wannabe theives think about what house you break into next time. It could be mine or my neighbor and I will be watching you through the scope. So look for the red dot when coming back out of the house.

Thank You St. Joe County officers great job..

Great job neighbors, but it's just another fine example of failed parenting. It's too bad there are not more good parents in this world and then less of this would happen. It's also too bad we don't have the ten commandments displayed anymore..."Thou shalt not steal".

Posted by: Anonymous on Jul 23, 2008 at 12:27 PM
I just LOVE the expressions of smugness on their faces. Like--how dare they be caught and punished for what they've done! Don't you know they DESERVE to take what they want? Unbelievable!

Posted by: Sarah Location: South Bend on Jul 23, 2008 at 12:16 PM
yeah they sure look like a bunch of winners don't they

Posted by: Brenda Location: Elkhart on Jul 23, 2008 at 12:08 PM
Well I wonder if these thugs are the jerks who were breaking in all those houses about 6 months ago in Elkhart My sister-in-law had her back door kicked in and they stole alot of her jewerly and some very important pictures that can not be replaced

Posted by: Vince Greene Location: SB on Jul 23, 2008 at 11:56 AM
Why did we arrest them? I'm sure the arresting cops seen them reaching for something. Now WE have to pay for them to sit behind bars and think of how not to get caught next time.

Well done St. Joe County Police. I also agree with Myrt that these low lives would still be walking the street (or riding their new mountain bikes) if it weren't for neighbors looking out for each other. Too many people have no problem turning their heads when they see stuff like this happening.

Posted by: eric Location: south bend on Jul 23, 2008 at 11:38 AM
So they caught Moe Larry and Curley huh.

Posted by: Myrt on Jul 23, 2008 at 11:10 AM
This just proves that people need to look out for each other. If the robberies in progress hadn't been reported, they would still probably be free. Good job, neighbors!!!!!

I wonder if these are the guys that broke into my storage unit...I hope they can figure it out. Many people would like to press charges.

Posted by: frosty Location: south bend on Jul 23, 2008 at 10:44 AM
Why lookee there...Curly, Larry, and Moe make the big time!!!

Posted by: Steve Location: Mishawaka on Jul 23, 2008 at 10:06 AM
Three more losers off the street for a while.

Posted by: Anonymous on Jul 23, 2008 at 09:46 AM
Three more thugs going to jail, where they'll meet lots of new people and maybe become someone's close friend.

Posted by: barb Location: SB on Jul 23, 2008 at 09:46 AM
Linda, why even give them bread and water? Let them suffer and realize that if they want things, they need to actually work for them to earn money, not just steal whatever they want. All we can say is one way or another (here on earth or later) they will get theirs.

Posted by: Linda Location: Granger on Jul 23, 2008 at 09:11 AM
Boy, what a nice bunch of law abiding citizens. (That's a joke) These creeps shouldn't be allowed outside a cage. Throw the key away and give them bread and water. That's all they deserve.
