The sound of clucking hens could still be coming to the city of Goshen.

At a meeting last month, the council failed a vote to allow chickens in city limits. This week, Councilman Jeremy Stutsman brought the issue up again, even though he voted against the original proposal.

According to The Elkhart Truth, the new proposal would create a pilot program – a two-year trial with a limited number of chicken permits available.

Anyone hoping to get one of those 50 permits would have to collect signatures from adjacent property owners and pay a $25 registration fee every two years.

The council will take up the issue on April 15th, after a period of public comment.
