Bethel wins NAIA National Tourney Opener

The Bethel College men's basketball team continued to stay perfect in the opening round of the NAIA DII National Basketball Tournament to defeat California-Maritime 85-75 in overtime.

Zach Miller would lead four Pilots in double-figures with 24 points connecting on 5-of-12 from beyond the arc. Ryan Benner would add 19 points and 10 rebounds. Patrick Oetting contributed 15 points and eight rebounds.

Bethel will await the winner of No. 2 College of Idaho and the host school College of the Ozarks and will play Friday, March 14 at 8:30pm.

Benner's 10 rebounds helps the 6-4 senior to enter into the illustrious 500 rebound club. Benner currently has 503 on the season.

Miller's five three-pointers brings his total to 121 on the year which leads the nation.

Bethel is now 10-0 in the first round of the national tournament.
