SOUTH BEND One person was found dead early Monday morning. The body was lying on the ground outside a South Bend home.

It happened at 1:20a.m. in the 3900 block of Roxbury Plaza, near the intersection of Lincoln Way W and N Sheridan. That’s south of Voorde Park.

We now know that 41-year-old Preston Flowers was found dead in his front yard by his wife. Officials tell us she was returning home when she found him and immediately called 911.

South Bend Police were dispatched to the residence because of reports of a male party down and not breathing.

Once medics and police officers arrived on scene, they determined that the male party, Preston Flowers, was dead.

They tell WNDU that it appears Flowers had sustained at least one gunshot wound. Autopsy results show he died of multiple gunshot wounds.

Metro Homicide is considering this an active homicide investigation and is awaiting the preliminary results of the autopsy being conducted at this hour.

They are currently still interviewing witnesses and processing evidence but there are still no suspects at this time. Anyone with any information regarding this incident is asked to call Metro Homicide at 235-5001 or Crime Stoppers at 288-STOP.
