On Friday, 23 individuals were taken into custody on outstanding warrants.

It was part of a large sweep conducted by officials throughout Michigan City and LaPorte County during Operation Summer Sweep Up.

The sweep was organized by the Fugitive Apprehension Street Team (FAST).

Trail Creek Police Department, LaPorte County Sheriff’s Department, Indiana State Police, United States Marshal’s Service and the LaPorte County Prosecutors Office assisted with the sweep.

Over the course of the sweep, officials seized marijuana, marijuana baked goods, narcotics paraphernalia, guns, money, and a large marijuana grow operation.

Chief Mark Swistek was very pleased with the results of Friday’s sweep and expects more arrests as a result of the initiative.
