2 warming shelters to be available Monday in South Bend

SOUTH BEND, Ind. The following was released Sunday by the St. Joseph County Emergency Management Agency:

Saint Joseph County Indiana is partnering with the City of South Bend to open warming shelters as needed starting Monday.

Temperatures are expected to drop starting Sunday night through Wednesday with wind chills possible to -30 below zero or greater.

The Martin Luther King Center will be available on a 24-hour basis as needed for sheltering. The O’Brien Center will be open as a warming shelter during normal hours.

High winds will cause blowing snow and can cause white-out conditions. Drifting snow is expected to effect and block roadways. Use caution when out traveling.
