SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Two of the suspects charged in connection with the shooting death of a South Bend 2-year-old were in court Wednesday.
Prosecutors said Robert Griffin and Tarez Buchanon, along with six others, were involved in the shooting.
Griffin's trial has been set for August 18, and another hearing for Buchanon is planned for June 17.
John Swoveland Junior, 2, was killed by a stray bullet while playing outside on Campeau Street.
Police say that bullet came from a gun battle between two rival gangs about three blocks away, near Coquillard Park.
Several children happened to be playing there at the time, and were able to identify some suspects from photos.
