Less than a month into the academic year and two local schools have high bragging rights.
On Friday, U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan recognized 269 schools with the "National Blue Ribbon School of the Year" award.
Among that list, "Lasalle Intermediate Academy" in South Bend and "Webster Elementary School" in Plymouth.
Each institution is selected based-on overall academic excellence and for improving student achievement levels.
An award ceremony will be held in Washington D.C. this November.
