Elkhart Police arrested a woman they say robbed a gas station on the 900 block of East Mishawaka Road early Saturday morning.
Police say they responded to an armed robbery at the Admiral Gas Station on Mishawaka Rd.
A 31-year-old employee of the store told police a woman came into the store and talked about an energy drink around 6 a.m. Saturday morning. The store employee says the woman stopped during the conversation and suddenly threatened her with a knife. The employee told police the woman forced her way behind the register and took money and the employee’s cell phone.
Police say the suspect then fled the area in a vehicle.
After getting initial information from the store employee, police dispatched a description of the suspect vehicle. Police quickly located a vehicle that matched the description and attempted to pull the car over.
The woman behind the wheel led police on a chase throughout the city of Elkhart until she hit a curb on the east side of the city. The wheel that hit the curb began going flat and the female suspect eventually stopped the vehicle in the area of Waterfall Dr. and Prairie St.
Upon inspection, police say they found evidence linking the woman to the gas station robbery. Elkhart Police arrested the driver, 43-year-old Lora Rae Watson. She is charged with Armed Robbery, Felony Fleeing, and an OWI refusal.
