Eight positions in city government will be eliminated in the 2013 budget, according to reporting partners at the Elkhart Truth.
Those positions include the mayor's executive assistant, two supervisors and a code enforcement officer.
One police and one firefighter position were also cut, but those positions were already vacant.
Mayor Dick Moore disagreed with the cuts, and said it is a step backward for the city.
The vote was the final formal stage in the budget process. However, Mayor Moore could propose shifting money around to avoid some of the job cuts.
