Changes for Toll Road drivers coming soon

Drivers will be paying more on the Toll Road beginning April 1st. The cost to drive across Indiana will increase from $4.65 to $8.00.
That's not the case if you use the i-Zoom pass. The prices for those drivers will stay the same.
Here's how the i-Zoom works. It's just like Illinois's i-Pass and the E-Zpass. Those will also work here in Indiana, just like the i-Zoom will work in other states.
The pass costs $50. Ten-dollars is like a security deposit. You will get it back when you return the tag in good condition. The remaining $40 is for tolls. Your balance goes down as you use it. Once it hits $10, you will automatically be charged to be brought back up to a $50 balance.
There could also be some additional charges. If you use a credit card instead of a checking account, you will be charged $1 a month. Also, if you choose to get your statements in the mail instead of by email, you will also be charged $1 a month.
Gary Amacher's company is called Adz in Motion. He drives a truck with moving advertisements on its side. So when driving through the neighborhood is your lively hood, an increase in tolls can take its toll. That's why he choose to get an i-Zoom.
"You don't have to worry about all the change. Which is nice," Amacher says. "And I know they recognize it now in Chicago...or around Chicago...so we won't have to keep throwing that 50 cents out. Every time you turn around it's another 50 cents. This way you just keep on."
The i-Zoom won't only save you money, but time.
"An electronic tag will move you through three times as fast as a manual," says Matt Pierce from the Toll Road. "We can process about 300 vehicles per hour with a manual collector. With an electronic tag, we can do an excess of 1,000."
