One person is dead after a crash Wednesday morning in Marshall County.
It happened on U.S. 6 near Bremen around 7:30 a.m.
A white SUV driven by 23 year-old Taylor Dodds, of South Bend, was traveling eastbound when for an unknown reason it crossed the center line and was hit by a semi. The semi erupted into flames and the entire cab is burnt.
Dodds was killed instantly. The driver of the semi, David Bryant of Southern Indiana, is ok.
Officers are not yet sure what caused the driver to cross the center line.
Both the Marshall County Sheriff's Department and the Indiana Department of Environmental Management were out at the scene to prevent soil contamination at the site.
US 6 was closed in both directions for more than four hours.
The highway has since reopened, but is down to one lane each way between Dogwood and Plymouth-Goshen Trail until 3:30 Friday afternoon, while clean-up continues.
