In South Bend on Sunday, runners enjoyed the spring weather, all while remembering someone who touched the lives of so many young people.
On Sunday along the East Race was the 1st annual Jeff Jankowski Memorial Run.
Jankowski was a school basketball coach who died last year at the age of 49.
One of his favorite charities was the Center for the Homeless, who benefited from the run.
More than 200 people took part.
Co-race director Katie Sullivan says, “Even more than we thought came out today, and so it's just a very humbling and moving experience to see how many lives Jeff really touched and helped out. Jeff was very involved and very giving, and he had that very compassionate and stewardship type of soul and personality, and we want to make sure that his spirit lives on.”
The event raised more than $5,000 for the Center for the Homeless.
