Thousands of jobs that would have been created in Michigan and Indiana will not happen after Bright Automotive has decided to close.
According to the Detroit News, the company has been talking with the US Energy Department about a grant from the Advanced Technology Vehicle Manufacturing Program.
After more and more restrictions for the money, the company said they could no longer work under the government conditions.
Bright was planning to make the idea hybrid delivery van on the former H2 line at AM General in Mishawaka.
AM General had this to say about the closing, "This is unfortunate and we are extremely disappointed. We will continue focusing on our relationship with the Vehicle Production Group and on other contract vehicle assembly opportunities utilizing our state-of-the-art facilities and world-class employees."
Bright is the second automotive company that shut down because of government restrictions.
