Bald eagle found dead in Lagrange County

Indiana Conservation officers are investigating a poaching incident involving a bald eagle. The raptor was found dead at the Indiana Department of Natural Resources Pigeon River Fish and Wildlife Area, located near Mongo, Indiana.

Two waterfowl hunters discovered the bald eagle on November 24th and immediately contacted DNR officials. The eagle was taken to the Lagrange Veterinary Clinic for further inspection.

The United States Fish and Wildlife Service is offering a reward of up to $5000.00 for any information leading to an arrest in this case.

DNR officials urge anyone with information to contact the “Turn in a Poacher Hotline” at 1-800-TIP-IDNR (1-800-847-4367) The DNR says that all calls will remain anonymous.
