80 Year old goes for 408th blood donation

Today an 80 year-old man celebrated his birthday by making a donation that could help save a life.

Charlie Weber has been donating platelets since the program started here in south bend back in the early 90's.

He hopes by donating it will show people that anyone can donate and change someone's life no matter what your age is.

"It is or I wouldn't be in here doing it this many times if I didn't think it was important and helping somebody…who might have cancer or hemophiliac whatever it might be that they can use the platelets," says Charlie.

Charlie donates both blood and platelets, today was his 408th visit to give a donation which is equal to 51 gallons of blood and platelets.
