Northern Indiana Public Service Company has agreed to refund 34 million dollars to electric customers. It's part of a settlement of LaPorte County's challenge of how the company charges for power it buys on the open market.

If the settlement is approved by the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission, a typical NIPSCO customer would receive $5 credits on February, March and April bills.

The settlement also requires NIPSCO to purchase outside energy at the lowest possible price.

NIPSCO serves about 450,000 customers in the northern third of Indiana.

Thank you ever so much!!! We need more people who will fight for what is right. If Nipsco where deregulated as the phone company was then our bills would be much cheaper. Which is exactly what happened when the phone co. was deregulated. Now they are God and can do what ever they want. Our elected representives really are looking out for Nispco Lobbiest

Adam...get your facts straight. Nipsco IS ALSO an electric company, and this suit IS concerning the electric division of Nipsco.

way to go laporte county, thanks for messing it up for the rest of us. dont worry Nipsco will get that 34 mil. back somehow. so when your bill is higher, remember the people who sued Nipsco. Also dont spent that $15 all at once.

If you don't like Nipsco, then don't use them. Have an all electric house, then see how high your bills are.

A bunch of cheapskates is what all of you fools are! NIPSCO doesn't charge that much and if you went to other states or cities, it would be the same way. Wakeup and stop wasting your money on other things at the Mall or other places then you would have money for your Gas bills. They charge what their suppliers charge them, they have said this over and over but you must not have listened to it or remembered it, now did you? NOPE!

Boy, a $15.00 refund. I some how think they will get it back over the coming months. I don't know who the people are that are suing them, but what they don't realize is that they are not hurting Nipsco, they are hurting us. That cost gets passed on to the consumer. Maybe they could put Nipsco out of business, then where would we get our gas?
