You might dread the thought of getting your property tax bill, but if you live in St. Joseph County then it is time to prepare yourself.
Around 120,000 property tax bills are being printed out Friday at the St. Joseph County Treasurer’s office.
The bills are expected to be in the mail on Monday and sent out sometime next week. Since the bills are being mailed later than expected, county treasurer Sean Coleman says that officials hope to extend office hours to make tax payments easier.
“I think under these circumstances where we only have one installment we want to make sure the public has every opportunity to come our office to our locations we can designate to make their payments,” said Sean Coleman, the St. Joseph county treasurer.
On average statewide, taxpayers have seen a 24% increase in their property taxes this year.
In St. Joseph county, property taxes are due by November 13th.
