Jury requested in animal cruelty case

A woman, who has an unhealthy affinity for felines, wants her case to go to a jury.

Carol Bowie's attorney filed paperwork on Thursday requesting a jury trial.

Earlier this month animal control seized 85 cats and 30 frozen cats from Bowie's Howard Township home. Officials say her house was covered in feces and urine.

Bowie was charged with 16 counts of violating Cass County’s animal ordinance.

A trial date will be scheduled next week.
