1-on-1 interview with Coach Muffet McGraw in Iowa City

The Irish women's basketball team is back in the Sweet 16 after a 74-57 win over Iowa Tuesday night in Iowa City. After the game, WNDU's Angelo Di Carlo chatted with Irish Coach Muffet McGraw in a 1-on-1 conversation. Click the video above to see it.

Angelo: Joined now by the winning coach. Coach, fourth straight year to the Sweet 16 I'm sure that doesn't get old that feeling.

Muffet: No it doesn't. We are definitely all business this year. I don't think there was any celebrating. We were kind of like ready to move on.

Angelo: I was watching the girls come in. I remember a few years back, maybe six years back when you guys beat Oklahoma to get to the Sweet 16, but it was very businesslike as they entered the locker room.

Muffet: I know I think we're following Skylar's lead. We came into this going "two games at a time" and just want to get through this weekend.

Angelo: In hindsight was this a game that ends up being to your advantage. A hostile environment and your team really stepping up?

Muffet: Definitely in hindsight. It certainly didn't look that way coming in, but when you looked at the games on TV when the host team had lost there was nobody in the gym, so I think I'd rather play in front of a hostile crowd and have some people there than to play in an empty gym.

Angelo: Kayla McBride, every time that crowd was trying to get the Hawkeyes back in it, she hit a big three or a big jumper. Talk about her career high 28 points.

Muffet: She answered the call every time. But 24 at halftime, they played zone, gave her a bunch of open looks, she made them all. She hit a bunch of threes which she's not so much a three point shooter, but every time we needed a basket it went to her.

Angelo: I'm sure you guys feel like you're not done here, you're not just satisfied getting to the Sweet 16.

Muffet: No we have some business to take care of and next up is Kansas.

Angelo: Alright, thanks Coach.

Muffet: Thanks for coming out.

Notre Dame will face 12th seeded Kansas at Noon on Sunday in Norfolk, Virginia in the Sweet 16.
