Penn female wrestler almost makes history as Mishawaka wins sectional title
Penn junior Sarah Hildebrandt finished 2nd at 103 pounds. Hildebrandt was looking to become the first female to ever win a wrestling sectional title in Indiana.

Mishawaka won nine individuals sectional titles pacing the Cavemen to yet another team sectional championship in high school wrestling Saturday at the Cave.

Penn finished 2nd in the team competition and Clay was 3rd.

Penn junior Sarah Hildebrandt, wrestling in place of Mikey Witous, was looking to make history at 103 pounds by becoming the first female in Indiana to ever win a sectional title.

Hildebrandt came up just short, falling to Adams freshman Sammy Ferdig in the final.

Mishawaka got its first of nine individual sectional titles at 112 pounds when Paul Beck beat Penn's Ben Varner.

Team regionals are Wednesday at 6pm at Jimtown. The Jimmies and Wawasee also won sectional titles on Saturday.
