Study shows c-sections are dangerous for some infants
Although cesarean section surgeries are common and generally considered safe, new research suggests they may not be best for some tiny babies.

Although cesarean section surgeries are common and generally considered safe, new research suggests they may not be best for some tiny babies.

C-sections are often performed for babies who aren't growing like they should in the womb, because they have a condition called intra-uterine growth restriction.

However, researchers found that those babies born via c-section before week 34 of pregnancy were nearly a third more likely to develop breathing problems than similar babies born via the birth canal.

Doctors also say sometimes c-sections are medically necessary for the health of the mother and infant.
