South Bend's Parks and Recreation Department wants to hear what you think it can do to curb childhood obesity.

Tuesday afternoon, city and business leaders met to review an ongoing study analyzing how parks can better enhance a child's overall health.

The study, being conducted by not-for-profit group G-P Red, is using South Bend as one of its first testing sites nationwide.

After all, latest numbers indicate one-in-three American children are either overweight or obese.

"The point is to try and figure out what's here now and what can we do to improve this so that we can really create an active youth. That way everyone can be involved in terms of getting off the couch, moving and really having more fun and reducing the levels of obesity in overweight children," said Teresa Penbrooke of the Healthy Communities Research Group.

If you'd like to have your voice heard, you can attend Tuesday night’s public meeting. It's set to begin at 6:30 p.m. inside the O'Brien Center along Walter Street in South Bend.
