Health & Beauty BreakDowns: Food Facials
Some traditional Thanksgiving favorites on the dinner table can also make good beauty treatments.

There's more to Thanksgiving leftovers than turkey sandwiches. Some of those traditional favorites can also be used to keep your skin looking its best. Last week, Dr. Ronal Downs revealed his top 5 healthiest holiday foods. This week, he showed us some unique beauty treatments using those items in our "Health and Beauty BreakDowns."
- Pumpkin Facials:
Mix leftover fresh pumpkin or canned pumpkin pie filling with lemon juice or milk. Lemon juice contains vitamin C which is good for the skin. Milk has lactic acid, which is a proven moisturizer. - Cranberry Lip Gloss or Facial Scrub:
Cranberries have rejuvenating and skin-peeling effects. They help kill bacteria and are useful for treating blemishes and breakouts. Cranberries are a rich source of flavonoids, polyphenols, vitamin C, and natural fruit acids. They've historically been used in folk medicine to help improve eczema and other skin rashes. - Sweet Potato Facial & Eye Rejuvenator:
Sweet potatoes are high in vitamin A and good for deep nourshing and moisturizing of the skin. To use as an eye rejuvenator, take two slices of thin sweet potato and place them over the eyes for 20 minutes. - Green Bean Skin Treatment:
Mix green beans with plain yogurt for silky smooth skin. Green beans are a good source of vitamin C, vitamin A, and potassium. It is also good for your elbows, feet, heels, and hands. - Turkey Fat Moisturizer:
Heat up the fat trimmed from a turkey in the microwave and use the oil that seeps out as an alternative to face cream. It is good for dry skin and can be mixed with sweet potato to create a face mask.
