The St. Joseph County Health Department continues to hold swine flu vaccine clinics in December for people in the high-risk or target groups.
Shots will be available on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 8:30-11 a.m. and 1:30-3 p.m. at the County Services Building located at 219 Lincolnway West in Mishawaka all month long.
In South Bend, people can get the vaccine at the following date and time on the 9th floor of the County-City Building on Jefferson Blvd. in South Bend:
- December 17, 8 a.m.-6 p.m.
These clinics are limited to individuals at highest risk for flu complications including:
- Pregnant women
- People who live with or provide care for infants younger than 6 months old (ex: parents, siblings, or day care providers)
- Health care and emergency medical services personnel
- People 6 months-24 years old
- People 25-64 years old who have certain medical conditions that put them at high risk.
People can bring completed consent forms to speed up the process. You can find a link to the form to print out on the Big Red Bar.
Beginning on December 20, anyone in Indiana can get vaccinated, not just the high risk groups
No vaccines will be offered at either location on December 21-25 or December 31.
People should call United Way 2-1-1 to find out where and when to get a seasonal vaccine.
The Indiana State Department of Health has a toll free hotline for people to call with questions about the flu virus or the vaccines. That is 1-877-826-0011 or 1-888-561-0044 for the hearing impaired.
