As "Bike to Work" week continues around Michiana, a group of St. Pius students biked to school on Thursday in Granger.

The light rain could not stop students, parents and teachers from putting the pedal to the pavement and taking the two mile ride to school from Knollwood Country Club at 7:00 a.m. Thursday.

This marks the second year for the event that raises awareness on how children can reduce their carbon footprints.

"The biggest reason is we want the kids to realize that as you go around, you see there are less and less kids riding bicycles around and we want them to see it's a practical way to get around," said Bill Corbett, event co-organizer. "It gets your mind going. It gets your heart racing."

The ride only took the students about a half-hour to complete.
