Chances are, you won't find a greener building in the state of Indiana than the new TRANSPO headquarters in South Bend.
On Monday, operations at that facility are set to begin.
While the new building is twice as big as the one TRANSPO is moving from, the energy costs are expected to stay the same.
On the roof, there's a 96 kilowatt solar power generating system. On the inside, the geothermal heating and cooling system draws water from 48 separate wells. And on the lawn, there's no manicuring nor an irrigation system. The landscaping instead will consist of native plantings and wildflowers.
TRANSPO is moving into their new garage from their Northside Boulevard facility. They'll be the first occupants in Ignition Park.
