After almost a year of negotiations, the School City of Mishawaka announced on Wednesday the district will receive $1.1 million from the state to make John Young Middle School more energy efficient.

The Qualified Zone Academy Bond will be used to replace boilers, install digital temperature controls and install energy efficient lighting.

The Mishawaka Education Foundation is also helping fund the project.
