Now that tax day is over, what's the best thing to do with your tax and important files? Shred them!
Thursday is "Clean your Files Day" and you have the chance to get rid of all that paperwork while keeping the planet in mind in preparations for Earth Day.
Trucks from Integra are on hand at the College Football Hall of Fame in downtown South Bend from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. to take your unwanted files and recycle them, or even shred them. They are also accepting cardboard.
Last year, more than 18 tons of paper was recycled and diverted from local landfills.
Not only are events like this good for the earth, but they also help in protecting your identity.
“We also have Central Files government standard document destruction and that will ensure that there will not be any identity theft,” says Mikki Dobski, South Bend's Communications Director.
If you can’t make Thursday’s event, you can head to Potawatomi Park on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. where there will also be recycling stations.
