Nowadays it's not difficult to find ways to "go green,” whether it be household cleaning products or organic foods.

On Friday night, families can gather in Elkhart for some environmental fun and learning at the same time at EnviroFest.

Families will be able to walk the paths, take part in eco-friendly crafts and displays and play with some wild animals including a large python. There will also be demonstrations and kids can make their own paper.

Organizers hope the thought of “going green” is catching on.

“I think it needs to be a permanent change,” said Angie Banet, the environmental education coordinator for the Elkhart Environmental Division. “I think it's been started as a trend but it definitely needs to be a permanent change for us to be effective and make a difference.”

The annual EnviroFest is going on from 5:30-9 p.m. at Wellfield Botanical Gardens located at 1000 North Main Street.
