This is the time of year when sprinklers are going full speed ahead; but when you’re trying to keep your lawn green, don’t forget about the environment, too.
There will be a workshop in Elkhart Thursday night will teach people how to conserve water and save money. It starts at 6 p.m. at the Elkhart Environmental Center located at 1717 East Lusher Avenue.
The workshop includes a free water conservation kit for participants who are from Elkhart; it costs $15 for those who aren’t. If you aren’t from Elkhart but you don’t want a kit and still want to attend the workshop, it’s free. Participants will learn how to install the kits, how to check for system leaks, and learn where we get our drinking water from.
Megan Kolaczyk from the Elkhart Environmental Center says there are simple steps people can take to conserve water.
Registration for the workshop isn’t required but if you’d like a kit, you should call (574) 293-5070 prior to attending.
