Dow Chemical Co. and a home builder are showing off a house that's expected to generate more energy than it consumes.

A ribbon cutting ceremony was scheduled for Friday in Bay City. The "Vision Zero" home uses energy efficiency technologies from
the Midland-based chemical giant such as solar shingles and geothermal heat.

The company says it's Michigan's first, affordable net-zero energy home. It's not currently for sale.

Built in a partnership with Michigan-based Cobblestone Homes, it's expected to cost virtually nothing to heat and cool. The home also is expected to be able to operate while emitting almost no greenhouse gasses.

The home also includes solar water heating and ultrahigh efficiency appliances.
