Things might be looking a little greener today because it's April 22nd and that means its Earth Day.
Thursday on 16 Morning News Joel Schipper took us inside Green Tech Transfer and Recycling to show the ins and outs of recycling.
Crews were busy sorting metal, wood, concrete, plastics, and everything else that can be recycled instead of thrown in a dumpster.
While Earth Day only happens once a year those at the plant say it should be everyday.
“Recycling is very important,” said Mike Morris of Green Tech. “We can't keep land filling material. There is not enough land available to keep filling it up with trash. This material should be recycled. It can be reused over and over again.”
Over the years more than 174 million pounds of material has been recycled at the plant.
Green Tech is offering free recycling deals and discounts through the end of April in honor of Earth Day. To take a look at the specials, click on the Big Red Bar.
