The majority of voters in St. Joseph, Michigan have decided they don’t want chickens in the city.
The proposal failed 575 votes to 349.
The proposal was initially brought up by a freshman at St. Joseph High School who wants to raise chickens for their eggs.
Her request was rejected last year, but this year she got enough signatures to put the issue up for a vote.
Opponents said the chickens would make too much noise, or be too dirty to keep around.
