The president of a northwest Indiana university plans to shave his head to raise money and awareness of childhood cancer.
Valparaiso University President Mark Heckler will take part in the charity event that the university's men's soccer team is holding March 30 to raise money for the St. Baldrick's Foundation. The nonprofit raises money to find a cure for childhood cancer.
Heckler says he hopes taking part in the event will help draw attention to the topic not only on the day of the events but for days and weeks to come.
Organizers hope the event will raise more than $10,000.
The foundation has funded more than $78 million in childhood
cancer research since it started in 2000.
