Gov. Rick Snyder says Michigan's universities and trade schools should focus on areas that are in demand and stop "overproducing" graduates in redundant areas.

He made the comment Thursday in an appearance at Delta College
in University Center, near Saginaw.

Snyder doesn't say which education programs are producing more
graduates than required.

Snyder says needed areas include computer programming, math,
health care and engineering.

He says he also wants more people to engage in training for
skilled trades such as welding and manufacturing.
