A spokesman at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology says the school president had a medical emergency in his office and died after being rushed to a nearby hospital.
Dale Long says the cause of death for Matt Branam wasn't immediately known. Long says he didn't have details about the medical emergency other than it happened Friday morning. Branam
died shortly after arriving at the hospital.
Long says the school's board of trustees Chairman William Fenoglio (fen-OH-lee-oh) announced Branam's death to the campus
community a little after noon. Fenoglio called Branam a visionary leader, a dedicated alumnus and good friend
Branam was elected the 14th president of the engineering school
in December 2009.
Long says Fenoglio was meeting with school leaders Friday
afternoon.
