Police patrolling school zones as school year starts

More South Bend squad cars will be on the road in South Bend.

Many schools start this week. South Bend schools start on August 25th.

Police say they will be setting up school zone traffic enforcement points at several locations, including Jackson Intermediate Center on South Miami Street.

Officers will not only monitor speed, but also cell phone usage. Cell phones are not allowed in South Bend school zones unless it is hands-free.
