If you are looking for good, educational fun this weekend, without spending a lot of money, it doesn’t get any cheaper than free.

More than 1,300 museums across the country are offering free admission on Saturday, to celebrate the 7th annual Smithsonian Magazine Day.

To get in free, all you have to do is download and print the official Museum Day ticket from Smithsonianmag.com and the ticket admits two people.

There are several museums in our area taking part including the South Bend Center for History, the Midwest Museum of American Art in Elkhart, and the Fernwood Botanical Garden and Nature Preserve, along with more than a dozen museums in Chicago.

You can check out the full list, and print off your ticket, by clicking here.

National Public Lands Day
You can get into more than just museums for free on Saturday. If you would rather head outdoors, you can go to the St. Joseph County parks.

There’s no gate fee on Saturday in recognition of the 18th annual National Public Lands Day.

Several other sites around Michiana are encouraging volunteers to come out and help in clean up efforts, that includes places like the Boot Lake Nature Preserve in Elkhart and the Friendship Gardens in Michigan City.
