More Michigan school districts are accepting online payment for activities, supplies and equipment.
The Detroit News reports Thursday that some parents are being asked to use their credit cards to pay as they face charges for sports teams and clubs as well as other fees for services and supplies ranging from PTA memberships to yearbooks.
Under state law, students can't be required to pay fees when registering for public school. But the newspaper reports that some parents have complained this year that they couldn't sign up their children for school without paying a fee that appeared mandatory.
Activity and equipment fees are common in Michigan schools, whether they are paid online or in person.
